Becoming a DMQ
Approved Witness
Applications for 2026 will close at 4pm on Thursday 26 February 2026.
Approved Witnesses are managed by DMQ but are volunteers. Approved Witnesses are a key element in the awarding process for the DSC2 qualification.
Some of the requirements to be considered as an Approved Witness are as follows:
- Hold the DSC2
- Hold a relevant Large Wild Game Meat Hygiene qualification
- Hold a current firearms certificate authorising the possession and use of a deer legal rifle
- Be technically competent and up to date with current Best Practice and legislation
- Be able to demonstrate relevant experience
- Have a regularly monitored email address
- Have sufficient IT skills to allow the download, editing and sending of relevant PDF documents
- Have read the Approved Witness Introductory Briefing document and other relevant material issued by DMQ
Successful candidates must attend a New Approved Witness briefing and complete an assessment at the end before being added to the current list of Approved Witnesses.
